Point & Shoot Cameras have amazing capabilities to produce fine pictures.  The objective of this class is to provide some basic knowledge of your camera and how it captures your image.  We will go over the menus and buttons that allow you to take charge of your camera to open up shadows and/or bring out detail in highlights, and to control your focus. The schedule includes a morning class, lunch, practice, and finally a constructive critique of your images.  Instructors:  Ray Boc and Geoff Archer

DSLR & Mirrorless Cameras: Getting out of the Auto Zone, Camera Basics:
Saturday, February 20,  9 am - 4 pm.
Wonder what all those knobs mean and how to use them to improve you pictures? Not sure what lenses to select for which type of picture? We will cover the basics of how to make good pictures and how to figure out what went wrong when things go amiss. We will begin with a morning lecture, break for lunch, pick up with afternoon practice and end with constructive critiques of your images. Instructors: Ray Boc and Geoff Archer

Creative Photography:
Saturday February 27,  9 am - 4 pm.
Once you have the image, what is the next step? Software today can transform your images from mundane to remarkable in a few minutes; with the click of a mouse one can accomplish what could take days in a darkroom. In this class you will learn how to shoot and select images for processing. You will work with HDR (High Dynamic Range) software such as Nik Software to creatively enhance an image. Since this is a software class, it is best if you bring your laptop (though you can opt to just listen and take notes). We suggest you download the free trials for the software we will use. Images will be provided so everyone can follow along. Instructor: Joyce Harman

River District Arts
Founded in May 2011, River District Arts is an eclectic group of more than a dozen artists working in a wide variety of media and styles including oil, watercolor, photography, ceramics and collage. These artists are the heart and soul of River District Arts.
During your visit, you will experience artists at work in spacious, inviting and light filled studios that are open to the public. You will have an opportunity to talk with them about their latest creations and browse our two exhibition galleries. The River Gallery and the Confluent Gallery regularly feature  changing shows by local and regional artists. To stay abreast of current activities join our email list or like us on Facebook. An adjacent Artisan Market features fine handmade crafts from Virginia artisans.
Located in Sperryville's River District, RDA is housed in a beautifully restored post and beam apple packing facility from the 1930s era, with touches of sophisticated modern interior architecture combined with exposed beams, rustic wood floors and sliding stable doors.

Art Enriches Life. That is the ultimate mission of River District Arts.

Open Studios, Gallery and Artisan Market Hours: Friday through Sunday 11 am to 4 pm (winter).

Public welcomed. Handicap Accessible.

During your visit of RDA, stop by our Rappahannock Central neighbors: Living Sky Foundation, Middle Street Gallery or Old Rag Photography or visit our neighbors at the River District:  Wasmund's Copper Fox Distillery, Copper Fox Antiques, Valley Green Naturals, and Heritage Hollow Farms.  We have become Sperryville's Vibrant Creative Community!
